Description

Alison Lapper Pregnant – a 3.6 metres (12 ft), 13-tonne Carrara marble torso-bust of Alison Lapper an artist who was born with no arms and shortened legs due to a condition called phocomelia. The statue was displayed on the forth plinth in Trafalgar square, London UK between 2005-2007. and was a feature of the summer 2012 Paralympics. For over 150 years the fate of the forth plinth was debated, eventually it was decided in 1999 it would be used to display temporary artworks.
